1. About the Website

I AM FROM PROJECT is a storytelling and archival platform dedicated to documenting, preserving, and sharing the lived experiences of cross-cultural, multicultural, and third culture individuals and communities.

2. Eligibility

You may use this Website only if you can form a legally binding agreement under applicable law.

• If you are under 13 years old, you may not submit personal information, stories, photos, videos, audio, or other materials through the Website.

• If you are under 18 years old, any submission or participation must be made with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, and we may require written parental or guardian consent before reviewing, publishing, archiving, or otherwise using any submitted materials.

We reserve the right to reject, remove, suspend, or withhold publication of any submission where age, consent, or authorization is unclear or insufficient.

5.1 Assignment of Rights

You hereby irrevocably assign, transfer, and convey to I AM FROM PROJECT all right, title, and interest, including all copyrights and other intellectual property rights, in and to your User Submission, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, upon submission.

This means that, once submitted, the User Submission becomes the property of I AM FROM PROJECT, and I AM FROM PROJECT will have the sole and exclusive right to use, reproduce, edit, publish, archive, distribute, display, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, and otherwise exploit the submission.

To the extent any rights cannot legally be assigned under applicable law, you grant I AM FROM PROJECT an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to exercise those rights to the fullest extent permitted.
 

5.2 Scope of Use

Your User Submission may be used by I AM FROM PROJECT in any manner related to the mission, operation, development, promotion, or long-term sustainability of the project, including without limitation:

• publication on the Website or archive;

• use on social media platforms and digital channels;

• use in promotional or awareness campaigns;

• paid advertising or sponsored distribution, where applicable;

• use in educational, editorial, documentary, and community-facing materials;

• exhibitions, presentations, workshops, public programming, and institutional outreach;

5.3 Editorial and Adaptation Rights

You expressly agree that I AM FROM PROJECT may, in its sole discretion:

• edit, shorten, excerpt, rearrange, or adapt your submission;

• translate your submission into one or more languages;

• correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, or formatting;

• redesign, reformat, visually repackage, or otherwise reconstruct the submission;

• combine it with images, captions, subtitles, voiceover, music, graphics, design elements, or other materials;

• publish it in full, in part, or in excerpted form across different formats and media.

 

5.4 Attribution and Identity

Unless otherwise determined by I AM FROM PROJECT or requested for privacy or safety reasons, User Submissions may be published under the name provided at the time of submission.

However, you acknowledge and agree that I AM FROM PROJECT may, in its discretion, anonymize, redact, abbreviate, partially de-identify, or publish the submission under initials or a pseudonym where appropriate for privacy, safety, editorial, or legal reasons.
 

5.5 Removal and Takedown Requests

Because I AM FROM PROJECT functions in part as an editorial and archival platform, we are not automatically obligated to remove or retract submitted or published materials upon request.

 

However, if a legitimate concern arises—including privacy, safety, consent, reputational harm, or legal issues—you may contact us to request review of a removal, redaction, anonymization, or takedown request.

 

We will review such requests in good faith. However, except where removal is required by law, all decisions regarding whether and how to remove, revise, anonymize, retain, or continue using submitted materials remain in the sole discretion of I AM FROM PROJECT.
 

6. Submission Representations and Warranties

By submitting any User Submission, you represent and warrant that:

• you are the original creator of the submission, or you have obtained all necessary rights, permissions, and consents to submit it;

• the submission does not infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contract, or other rights of any third party;

• if any identifiable person appears in the submission (including in photographs, videos, or audio), you have obtained all necessary permissions and consents from them, and where required, from their parent or legal guardian;

• the submission does not contain unlawful, defamatory, abusive, threatening, hateful, or otherwise harmful material;

• all information you provide in connection with the submission is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge.

If you are submitting content on behalf of a minor, school, family, group, or organization, you represent that you have the legal or authorized right to do so.

 

7. Editorial Discretion

I AM FROM PROJECT is under no obligation to publish, display, archive, retain, or continue hosting any User Submission.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to:

• accept or reject submissions;

• edit, redact, translate, excerpt, or adapt submissions;

• determine how, when, and where content appears;

• remove, unpublish, archive, or restrict access to any content;

• delay publication for editorial, legal, privacy, or safety reasons.

Participation does not guarantee publication, retention, or continued visibility.

 

8. Sensitive and Personal Content

Because this project may involve identity, migration, belonging, family, race, language, and other deeply personal experiences, you should submit only content that you are comfortable sharing and that you are authorized to share.

Please do not submit:

• confidential or private records;

• another person’s personal information without permission;

• content that could reasonably create safety, legal, or privacy risks;

• materials you do not have the right to share.

We reserve the right to redact, anonymize, withhold, or remove content where we believe publication could create privacy, safety, or legal concerns.
